General

• What Time Do Gates Open and Films Start?

October 1, 2 & 3: Gates open at 6PM. The film starts from 7PM.

October 4 – 31: Gates open at 6:30PM. The films starts from 7:45PM. As we are an outdoor cinema we need it to be dark for the film to be visible on the screen. We recommend arriving early to give you enough time to grab your food & drinks and settle in for the film.

• Can I Bring the Kids Along?

Absolutely, Sunset Drive-In is the perfect place to enjoy a family night out or entertain the kids for a few hours. Also, be aware that we sometimes show films classified MA15+ (for the adults) which require children under 15 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Films that are R18+ require all attendees to be 18 or older.

• What Should I Bring?

To fully enjoy your Sunset Cinema experience, we suggest the following things:- Layering up or bringing a blanket for those chillier spring nights.

  • Insect repellent to keep those mozzies away (if your window is open).
  • Snacks, food & drinks are all welcome. We will also have these available onsite if you’d rather purchase then!
  • Friends, Family or Dates; Sunset Drive In is best enjoyed with others!

• Can I Bring My Camera?

We love to see your snaps at Sunset Cinema. You can share them on Instagram with us by tagging @thesunsetcinema and using #thesunsetdrivein so we can see & repost them. However, we request that no professional recording equipment or flash photography is used during the film and recording the film is strictly prohibited by law.

Ticketing

• Where Can I Buy Tickets?

You can purchase your tickets online. Simply select your session from our PROGRAM and then your tickets. There is no box office at the venue.

• Can I Show My Tickets on My Phone?

Yes. Simply show your tickets displayed on your phone at the gate.

• I’ve Lost My Ticket.

No worries. Sometimes our confirmation emails get lost in your junk inbox, look for an email from tickets@sunsetcinema.com.au. You can also access your tickets by logging into your account HERE. Still can’t find your ticket? Email us at info@sunsetcinema.com.au

• Can I Change to Another Screening?

We understand that sometimes life can get in the way of a pre-planned night at Sunset Cinema. If you would like to swap your tickets to another session, simply:

  • Go to your Sunset Cinema ACCOUNT and login
  • Click ‘list tickets’
  • Select the tickets you would like to swap and select ‘exchange’
  • Follow the prompts to choose another session.

There is a $1.50 exchange fee on all tickets. Tickets cannot be exchanged for a transaction that is lesser value than the original. Tickets can only be exchanged up until 24 hours before the session time. Unfortunately tickets are non-refundable.

• What If I Can No Longer Attend?

You are able to exchange your tickets to another session. However, refunds are not available if you are no longer able to attend or change your mind. In accordance to our COVID plan, if you have been told to isolate or are feeling unwell, please contact us at info@sunsetcinema.com.au

• What Does The Single Ticket Cover?

Each single ticket covers one car, with as many people as the vehicle can legally seat, up to 8 people.

• What are the Ticket Booking Fees?

Our ticketing provider charges a $2 booking fee per ticket/car. If you decide to exchange your ticket there is also a $1.50 exchange fee per ticket.

• Do You Offer Discounts for Concessions Or Carers?

We have a single ticket price which covers a carload of people, regardless of any discount cards they may hold. Any questions, please feel free to email us at info@sunsetcinema.com.au.

• How Do I Redeem a Ticket Voucher or Discount Code?

To redeem a discount code or ticket voucher/complimentary pass (excluding Gift Cards) simply:

  • Select your preferred screening
  • Enter your unique Code and Validate
  • Select your discounted or complimentary ticket and Add To Cart
  • Follow to prompts to proceed to checkout and complete the transaction

Please check the terms and conditions of each voucher as they may differ.

• Can I Redeem A Sunset Cinema Gift Card/Voucher?

Gift Cards from Sunset Cinema North Sydney are redeemable at Sunset Drive-In.

  • Select your Sunset Cinema session at sunsetcinema.com.au
  • Choose your tickets, add them to your cart & proceed to checkout
  • Sign up or login to our ticketing provider
  • Enter your Gift Card code under ‘Voucher Code’ in payment methods and click APPLY
  • Complete transaction & enjoy the film!

Weather

• What if it Rains?

Sunset Drive-In is an Aussie spring/summer outdoor event. Part and parcel of that is being open to all the elements mother nature may throw at us; including unpredictable weather changes at any moment. We screen in most weather conditions, including those light rainy summer nights. We only cancel screenings in extremely bad weather where danger presents itself to our patrons and staff.

We encourage you to check the forecast HERE and check that your windscreen wipers are working!

Coming to an outdoor event always has its weather risks. You accept, by purchasing tickets, that you acknowledge the unpredictability of the weather and no refunds will be given if you do not find the weather satisfactory.

In the unlikely event of a cancellation, the notification will come via SMS & Email. You will be entitled to exchange your tickets to another screening night during the current season. Refunds will not be given for weather cancellations, unless it is the final week of the season.

• I Have Tickets to a Cancelled Session. What Now?

Damn! We had to cancel the screening. You would have received a text message & email from us, in that email there will be instructions on how to exchange your tickets. If you did not receive these instructions then simply head to your ACCOUNT and follow the exchange process above. Don’t worry, you won’t get charged an exchange fee for a cancelled session.

Food & Drink

• What Food & Drinks Are Available?

There is a range of food and drinks available every screening night.

• Can I BYO Food, Drinks & Alcohol?

You are more than welcome to bring your own supplies for the movie. However, please be aware that we are not a licensed venue and cannot allow alcohol into the venue. Sunset Drive In does not condone consumption of alcohol by any drivers. We also ask for you to take your rubbish with you when you leave as onsite rubbish disposal is minimal.

• How Do I Get To Sunset Drive-In Ku-ring-gai?

• Can I Smoke or Vape?

St Ives Showground is a smoke-free area and we do not allow smoking or vaping at Sunset Cinema Drive-In.

• Can I Bring My Pet?

You are more than welcome to bring your furry friend along to Sunset Cinema Drive-In. They must stay on leash with you at all times for both their safety and that of other patrons.

• Is Sunset Drive-In an Accessible Event?

There are accessible facilities available at the St Ives Showgrounds’ site. However, please be aware that the grounds are mostly grass with minimal footpaths.

• I’ve Lost Something at the Cinema.

If you’re still on-site and can’t find something, report it to one of our staff and leave your details.If you have already left the cinema, send us an email at info@sunsetcinema.com.au and we will have our staff look for you.

COVID-19

• Do You Have A Covid-19 Policy?

Sunset Cinema & Sunset Drive In is registered as a COVID Safe Business with the NSW Government in line with the current restrictions and guidelines. You can find our full COVID policy HERE.

• What If I Have Been Told To Isolate or Feel Unwell?

If you have been told to isolate or feel unwell/sick in any way then you must not attend Sunset Drive In. If you already have tickets, please contact us at info@sunsetcinema.com.au and we will assist you.

Cars

• How Do I Access The Sound?

You will be able to tune into the film’s sound via your car radio, a particular frequency will be given on the night. We suggest that you test your radio beforehand. If your radio does not work then you can bring a portable radio with you. This will not work on iPhones. There may be a limited amount of portable radios to hire onsite.

• Can I Leave My Car?

You are more than welcome to leave you car to pick up your food order or use the toilets. However, due to social distancing restriction we must insist that you stay in or directly within the region of your car at all other times and during the film. Whilst outside your car you must practice social distancing and stay 1.5m apart from others.

• Can I Choose My Car Spot?

Our friendly staff will guide your car to the designated spot. This is based on your car height, size and arrival time. We ask that you follow these directions and do not move to a different spot. If you know you will need to leave early or require more accessible access to the toilet area, please alert a staff upon entry.

• How Many People Can I Bring Per Car?

One ticket covers up to 8 people in the car (including driver). If you have more then your group you will need a seperate ticket & car.

• What If I Need To Leave Early?

If you need to unexpectedly leave early, please approach a staff member first before moving your car. This will ensure a safe exit that does not endanger your carload or others.

• Is There A Size Restriction?

There is no current size restriction on the vehicle you bring. However, very large vehicles may be directly to the back of the cinema grounds to stop the vehicle from blocking.

• Are There Discounts for Groups?

If you have a large group of cars attending or corporate event you wish to hold, please get in contact with us at info@sunsetcinema.com.au
